Clarion, PA – A 74-year-old Sligo man allegedly impersonated a state constable and groped a woman in Clarion County earlier this month.
Harry Billotte is facing misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and impersonating a public servant.
The victim says Billotte offered to give her a ride home when she was walking in Clarion on May 4. She said she accepted the ride because he had told her he was a state constable and she trusted him.
Once she got into the van, the victim says Billotte asked to touch her, and she refused. She says he took no for an answer at first but later put his hand down her shirt and groped her whenever they got to her house. She got out of the van and called police.
When police came to interview the woman on her front porch that same day, they spotted Billotte in his van still lingering around the area. He agreed to be interviewed by the police. Billotte repeatedly claimed to be a constable but could not provide any credentials. When troopers took his badge, he reportedly said that he could just buy another one.
Billotte told the troopers that he had been lonely ever since he wife passed away about 5 years ago. He said he was in the process of trying to find a new wife.
Billotte admitted to asking the woman if he could touch her, but he claims he never actually put his hands on her. However, he did provide the police with a very detailed description of her body.
His preliminary hearing is set for June 4.
