Clearfield, PA –  If you drive on Interstate 80 near Clearfield, you could run into construction and road repairs throughout this week.

Crews will be working to replace concrete slabs in the roadway on the westbound section of I-80 from mile marker 118 to 116, just west of Clearfield (between the Clearfield/Penfield and Clearfield/Shawville exits).

PennDOT says the goal is to replace the concrete to improve ride quality and roadway integrity.

Starting at the beginning of this week, drivers will encounter a closure of the right/travel lane through this area. Traffic will move past the work zone in the left/passing lane. Drivers should be prepared for slow moving traffic in this area.

The work zone and lane closures will be in place through May 14 in order to make repairs and ensure cure time of the concrete. HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor for this work.

PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution through all work zones, prepare for travel delays, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

To help make decisions about travel, motorists are encouraged to “Know Before You Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 850 traffic cameras.
