Knox Township, PA – After a massive search yesterday afternoon involving helicopters, police have found and arrested the man who allegedly fled after assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop.
35-year-old Dale Shaffer of Olanta was found late yesterday afternoon. He reportedly had been pulled over around 12:30 yesterday in Knox Township, Clearfield County.
Police say Shaffer assaulted a trooper and attempted to remove their duty weapon. He fled the scene and left behind a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old in his car.
People in the area were warned that Shaffer was known to have violent tendencies and had an active warrant out for his arrest.
Now that he has been found and arrested, Shaffer is facing felony charges for aggravated assault and disarming a law enforcement officer.
He also faces misdemeanor charges for endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
