Jefferson County, PA – A Brookville artist has been named the PA Wilds Artisan of the Year.
The Rev. Kyle Yates first got into photography in 2002, when he got a camera to take photos of a church youth trip to Colorado. He came back with photos of sunrises and landscapes, and he knew he had found a new lifelong passion.
Yates is featured in the Winkler Art Gallery in DuBois. You can see just some of his many dramatic pieces there, including photographs of bridges, churches, neon lights, waterfalls, and conceptual imagery.

The PA Wilds celebrates people who are pairing the natural beauty and creativity of our area with economic growth, bringing in tourists, new businesses, and homeowners.
Yates was chosen as the Artisan of the Year because of his focus on Pennsylvania’s beautiful scenery.
In addition to being a photographer, Yates is a senior pastor at the Scotland Avenue Church of God in Punxsutawney. He says that, although he loves his art, he always tries to put ministry at the forefront. Yates points any talent he has back to God.
