Brookville, PA – Prescription medication was stolen from an 81-year-old Brookville woman recently.
Police say the unknown thief took the meds from her home along Route 28 on March 30. This case remains under investigation, but prescription theft is more common than you think.
Susan Ford, the director the Clearfield Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission, says many times the medications are stolen by someone who the victim knows.

The most commonly stolen prescription medications are opioids, such as Oxycontin, Vicodin, and Percocet. Other commonly stolen drugs include benzodiazepines or sedatives (like Xanax, Valium, and Phenobarbital) and stimulants (like Adderall or Ritalin).
Keep an eye on who is in contact with your medications and consider placing a lock on your medicine cabinet.
