Clearfield County, PA – The Clearfield County Coroner says it was “one stupid mistake” that led to the death of a Glendale High School senior.

17-year-old David Rydbom drowned accidentally over the weekend during a camping trip with a friend.

Investigators say that he had been drinking at the time and had a BAC of 0.17 percent, just over twice the legal limit for driving.

The Clearfield County community is remembering David Rydbom as a tough but caring football player. Friends say he loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday in Coalport. Friends and family of David Rydbom will be received on Wednesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 9 p.m. at the Gibbons Funeral Home on Main Street. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday.

The family suggests donations be made to the Glendale High School Football program in David’s memory.

Grief counselors are available this week at the Glendale Fire Department and high school for anyone, especially students, who have been affected by the young man’s death.
