Brookville, PA – A Pittsburgh couple are facing charges after they were found unconscious after using heroin at a home in Brookville with their child watching them.

Police found 34-year-old Eric Zellonis and 25-year-old Candace Gill passed out at a home along Long Avenue in Brookville on Tuesday morning.

They had come to Brookville to pick up their young son, who had been staying at Gill’s mother’s house.

Police suspect that they used heroin and passed out before they could leave.

Police found 15 stamp bags that were partially filled with suspected heroin, two syringes of heroin, and 177 empty stamp bags, all of which was inside of a U-Haul that Zellonis and Gill had rented. The U-Haul had an Arizona registration, though police say the couple had rented the vehicle in Pittsburgh to drive to Brookville.

Zellonis and Gill both face misdemeanor charges for endangering the welfare of children and possession of a controlled substance. They’re being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $50,000 each.

Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for April 19.

The little boy remains in the custody of Gill’s mother.
