DuBois, PA – If you live in the City of DuBois, you’ll pay a little bit more for your trash pickup. DuBois City Council renewed their contract with Advanced Disposal.
The new 10-year contract includes a rate increase. The city has been using Advanced Disposal for the last decade, and this is the first ever rate increase.
Council members and Advanced Disposal management agreed that the increase was fair, especially since new laws have made operating the company more costly. The garbage company is now required to recycle electronic goods, which can cost them 50 cents per pound for things like televisions.
DuBois City’s regular waste and recycling rate is now $19.50 per month, which is the same price that Reynoldsville pays and slightly cheaper than Sandy Township.
The senior citizen rate has increased to $12.50, which is significantly cheaper than in other townships.
The new residential rates go into effect on July 1.
Commercial rates will increase by 10 percent per month, starting in April.
