Madera, PA – One man is being charged in a fatal stabbing that happened one week ago in Clearfield County.

20-year-old Jonathan Maines of Madera is accused of stabbing 30-year-old Joshua Sahm of Blandburg last Tuesday at an apartment building in Madera, a little town just west of Houtzdale.

Investigators suspect that drugs played a large role in the murder.

Witnesses told police that the fight started in a bedroom, but Sahm stumbled down a flight of stairs after being stabbed in the neck and back. One of the witnesses called 911, but the man died on the way to the hospital.

More than 20 state troopers worked diligently on the case. They found Maines and took him into custody the morning after the murder.

Maines faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

He’s being held in the county jail without bail, awaiting his preliminary hearing on April 4.
