DuBois, PA – Police were on high alert in DuBois on Monday after someone reported that they heard a child in distress inside a white van.

A passing motorist reported around 11 a.m. that they saw the white-colored cargo panel van near Shaffer Road and Commons Drive.

It didn’t have any windows and was being driven by a white man with blond hair. The caller said that they heard a little girl, possible screaming “help me” and kicking at the inside of the van.

However, the motorist didn’t see any children or passengers. Police are still working on just the one report from one concerned citizen, so it’s unclear whether anyone was actually ever in danger.

Still, police say that it’s better to err on the side of caution with cases like this. They’ve issued a bulletin to the surrounding law enforcement agencies and to the community to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior.

If you have any information about what might have happened yesterday with the white van, please either call 911 or the non-emergency number at 814-765-1533.
