Fox Township, PA – An Elk County teen is left with minor injuries after crashing his car because of distracted driving.

The unnamed 17-year-old Kersey boy was driving along Toby Road in Fox Township, Elk County, on Saturday afternoon.

He became distracted, struck a guardrail, then went down an embankment. The teen was charged with careless driving.

Distracted driving is one of the most common factors that leads to crashes, and teens are the largest age group reported as distracted in fatal crashes.

When you’re driving, your focus should be on the road.

Anything that takes away your attention – such as texting or talking on a cell phone, joking around with your passengers, eating or drinking, or using the stereo or GPS – can cause you to become distracted.
