Elk County, PA – Two people are being charged with drug delivery resulting in a death, which is a charge that’s the first of its kind in Elk County.
Last March, 25-year-old Kaitlyn Buerk had died of an overdose at a home in Wilcox. Police traced the drugs back to Allison Miller and Theresa Sample.
Officials believe that Miller picked up about 20 bags of heroin from a supplier in Pittsburgh and brought them back to be sold in Elk County.
Miller is the victim’s sister, and Sample is the victim’s cousin.
Although all three knew the heroin was likely laced with something and was powerful, it was actually almost purely fentanyl, which is a synthetic drug that’s said to be about 50 times stronger than heroin.
This is the first time that a drug delivery resulting in death charge has been made in Elk County. Pennsylvania passed the new type of charge in 2010.
