Reynoldsville, PA – A Reynoldsville man is facing assault charges after police say he tried to strangle his father.
On Jan. 25, an 85-year-old man came to Reyoldsville Borough Police to report that his son had grabbed him by the throat and threatened him earlier in the day.
The man said that this was not the first time that his son had hurt him.
Police began searching for 43-year-old Jason Gearhart.
Once they took him into custody to question him about the alleged abuse, Gearhart became violent, screaming at and threatening police officers. He says that he takes care of his father and that the man was lying.
Gearhart is being charged with strangulation, simple assault, terroristic threats, and other related charges.
Unable to post $25,000 bail, he remains in the Jefferson County Jail until his preliminary hearing on Feb. 22.
