Punxsutawney, PA – The Pantall Hotel has sat empty for several years, and officials in Punxsutawney say it would take a massive renovation before the building could be used again.
The building was scheduled for a sheriff’s sale in January of 2014 at a price of $839,550.13, including back taxes. Powell and Associates listed the hotel in 2017 for a cost of $899,000.00, but there have been no buyers yet.
The lienholder has been paying just enough to hold onto the property, but the Punxsutawney Regional Development Corporation has been gathering ideas for what the building could eventually be used for.
Some have suggested that the building should stay as a hotel, others say demolish it, and some people suggest renting out the bottom for a business and remodeling the upstairs as apartments.
However, no matter what the Pantall Hotel could eventually be used for, renovating it could take millions of dollars and years of work.
