Harrisburg, PA – Gov. Tom Wolf took another step forward in the fight against heroin and opioid addiction by signing a statewide disaster declaration to help enhance state response, increase access to treatment, and save lives.
The declaration is the first-of-its-kind for a public health emergency in Pennsylvania and will use a new Opioid Command Center to track addiction and drug abuse.
The plan also includes better access to naloxone (also known as Narcan) that can reverse the effects of an overdose, harsher restrictions on Fentanyl, and more widespread drug and alcohol recovery programs.
