Reynoldsville, PA – Two Clearfield County teens are in jail after they allegedly broke into a Reynoldsville man’s home and hit him with a baseball bat last week.

Although a similar baseball bat assault happened in Sykesville last Wednesday, they were two separate incidents.

17-year-old Benton Rodkey of Kathaus and 18-year-old Scylar Muirhead of DuBois are both facing felony charges. Even though Rodkey is 17, he is being charged as an adult for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim says that the two men broke into his home on Jackson Street when he was asleep. He looked into his basement around 5 a.m. last Tuesday because his dog was staring at the door. The man says he was immediately struck in the face with a baseball bat. The men fled, and the victim was taken to the hospital with a large gash on his forehead.

The victim believed that Muirhead was one of the people involved because he had met him earlier in the week. Police used security camera footage from nearby businesses to show that Muirhead and Rodkey were in the area at the time. The two of them allegedly confessed, and Rodkey was reportedly the only one who had hit the victim with the bat.

Rodkey is being charged with felony aggravated assault, burglary, and criminal trespass. His bail is set at $100,000. Muirhead faces felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass. His bail is set at $60,000. Neither of their preliminary hearing dates have been scheduled yet.
