Johnstown, PA – In the last year, eight people have been murdered just in the nearby city of Johnstown, and residents are worried that the violence will continue to spread.
These murders also seem to be getting younger and younger. The latest death was a 13-year-old boy who was shot and killed while walking home after getting a candy bar at Sheetz.
Police suspect the 13-year-old’s shooting was in retaliation for another recent murder of an 18-year-old boy.
Some Pennsylvanians are asking for more after school programs that could be a positive influence on at-risk kids. Johnstown resident recently gathered for a meeting to discuss what could be done to help prevent the violence, though there are no official plans yet.
