DuBois, PA – The Miller Brothers Sunny 106 Make-A-Wish Light Up a Child’s Life campaign, presented by Treasure Lake and Community First Bank, continues throughout this week in DuBois. We’ve been hearing the stories of some of the younger kids who got their one true wish. However, here is the story of an older teen.

Cody Cain, who is now 20, was diagnosed when he was 16 with stage two Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He’s now clear of cancer, but he was sick for part of the time when he was a high schooler at Brockway Area School District.

Although many wish kids ask for vacations, Cody wanted something that would last a little longer. He wanted to redecorate his bedroom. Because he loves the outdoors, Make-A-Wish helped redo his bedroom with rustic furniture, made out of hickory and pine.

Lindsey Herzing, the Make-A-Wish regional manager, says the older recipients can have a harder time because they can process what being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness really means.

It takes everyone to make this work, and every donation counts. You can make a donation to Make-A-Wish at our radio station offices at 12 West Long Avenue in DuBois all week long or give us a call at 814-372-1065, and don’t forget to bid on the auction items, happening live this Friday.
