DuBois, PA – The Miller Brothers Sunny 106 Make-A-Wish Light Up a Child’s Life campaign, presented by Treasure Lake and Community First Bank, continues throughout this week in DuBois.

We’re hearing the stories of some of the families touched by the amazing people at Make-A-Wish.

Donnie Shimmel is a wish dad from Clearfield who has been raising money for other wish kids ever since his son, Corey, had been diagnosed with leukemia in 2000.

Then ten years ago, Donnie started selling t-shirts to raise money for Make-A-Wish at the Clearfield Area School District where he works. The students and teachers buy the shirts, then wear them around school and to football games. Donnie sold more than 1,000 t-shirts this year and gave a donation of more than $3,400 to Make-A-Wish to help kids who are dealing with life-threatening conditions get their one true wish.

Allison, one of the students at Clearfield Area School District, was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago. Allison is in remission now and is preparing for a special trip, made possible through Make-A-Wish.

Listen to the full interview with regional manager Lindsey Herzing, Donnie Shimmel, Beth, and Allison.

It takes everyone to make this work, and every donation counts. You can make a donation to Make-A-Wish at our radio station offices at 12 West Long Avenue in DuBois all week long or give us a call at 814-372-1065, and don’t forget to bid on the auction items, happening live this Friday.
