DuBois, PA – A local doctor is facing drug charges for allegedly overprescribing Percocet to his wife for his own use. 40-year-old David Girardi lives in DuBois but works as a doctor in Brookville.
Girardi is accused of prescribing more than 175 Percocet and other pills to the woman between November 2016 and September 2017. She says she took at least some of the pills, but investigators say Girardi admitted to using some of them.
Girardi was in a similar situation in 2008, facing seven counts of procuring drugs by fraud. He pleaded guilty then and was sentenced to two years probation. He was ordered to complete drug and alcohol counseling but reportedly relapsed before this newest case.
Girardi waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and the case was transferred to the Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas. He is free on $2,500 unsecured bail. His formal arraignment will be on Dec. 27.
