Jefferson County, PA – Jefferson County residents won’t see any increase in their county taxes. The Jefferson County Commissioners decided to use part of their general fund to balance out the 2018 budget.

They will use $422,999 to balance the budget so there is no need to raise the millage rate. The tax mills will remain at 12.

That is not to say that your specific city or township will not raise their taxes if you live in Jefferson County, but the county itself will not increase its portion of taxes. The commissioners have also asked each department within the county to consider streamlining their expenses as much as possible.

Although this is just a preliminary budget, the Jefferson County Commissioners are expected to adopt it at their Dec. 19 meeting.
