Clearfield, PA – Clearfield County says the drug epidemic is part of the reason for the county’s budget deficit.

Court costs in Clearfield County have risen dramatically, and there is now a $969,000 deficit in the proposed 2018 budget.

In addition to rising court-related costs, the county’s budget has also seen more spending at the jail and for Child and Youth Services.

However, the commissioners do not have any plans to raise taxes in Clearfield County.

They will vote on the proposed preliminary budget next week, and it could be finalized at the Dec. 26 meeting.
