Houtzdale, PA – More than two months after he passed away, Camille Bud George won the race for Houtzdale mayor one last time.

George was serving as mayor when he died in early September, and his name still appeared on the ballot in the November election.

George was well-loved as a mayor and was running opposed on the ballot. He reportedly received 49 votes, while there were 48 write-in votes for Robert Hanna and 26 for John Bumbarger.

Camille Bud George’s family members were touched by the final vote. They say that Bud would have thought it was funny, but it also would have meant a lot to him.

It’s likely that most of the voters knew about his passing and wanted to vote for him as a way of honoring his service and legacy.
