Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Senate is advancing legislation to permit municipal police departments to use radar to catch speeders.
Only the Pennsylvania State Police are currently allowed to use radar devices, although township and city police can still pull you over for speeding by using speed traps or following behind you and comparing your speed to their own speedometer.
The bill passed the Senate on Tuesday, 46-3, and heads to the House. Under the bill, trained police officers could use radar or infrared laser light devices to catch speeders.
