Pennsylvania – When was the last time you saw a pay phone? Because nearly every American (about 95 percent) owns some kind of cell phone, pay phones are becoming much less common… especially on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Just about two months after the Pennsylvania Turnpike began removing most of its emergency roadside call boxes, the Turnpike is now removing all of the pay phones.
Turnpike officials say that the call boxes and the pay phones aren’t getting used enough to make it worth the cost to keep them operating.
