Grampian, PA – A Grampian couple accused of taking money from the local fire department pleaded guilty and have been sentenced.
41-year-old Scott McCracken and 38-year-old Jennifer McCracken were sentenced to 10 years of probation and will each pay $3,361 in restitution, plus fines and court costs.
From 2008 to 2012, they reportedly wrote checks to themselves from the Grampian Penn Bloom Fire Company checking account. Scott McCracken was the president of the fire company and the treasurer for the fire police at the time, and Jennifer McCracken had been the secretary of the fire company and the fire police. They were in charge of the company’s checkbook.
The total of the checks was $4,350. The investigation showed that the McCrackens were having financial difficulties when the thefts happened.
The judge has forbidden them from holding any position with any fire company or non-profit organization. They could be released from parole early once they finish paying the restitution.
