Clearfield, PA – A Clearfield man was caught in a statewide investigation of insurance fraud.

25-year-old Tyler German reported that he wrecked his ATV not even a week after getting an insurance policy in March. He allegedly later admitted to investigators that he was purchased the ATV for nearly $25,000 but had crashed it only a week later.

He says he panicked after he saw how much it would cost to fix, so he signed up for an insurance policy online and eventually reported that he had crashed on the ATV on a different date.

The insurance repair estimate was for $6,550, but German says he fixed it himself for $1,800.

He waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
