Brookville, PA – Brookville council last night presented its proposed 2018 budget.
The $2.3 million budget does not include a tax increase in the borough’s general fund. But it does call for a .3 mill increase in the street light fund.
Borough manager Dana Shick said the lighting fund has dwindled in recent years from replacing a fair share of bulbs and globes, which can be expensive. The budget still needs reviewed for further input before advertising it to the public.
In other business, council tabled discussion on a resolution that would opt the borough out of permitting category 4 casinos to operate in the borough. The matter follows the state’s recent decision to expand gambling to raise additional tax revenue. Council needs to further review the matter before the Dec. 31 deadline.
And with borough police officers working extended hours of late, council approved Chief Jason Brown’s request to hire additional part-time officers.
