DuBois, PA – Veterans are invited to DuBois Central Catholic tomorrow to be honored in their annual ceremony.
Vets are asked to show up at DCC at 8:20 on Wednesday to sign in at either of the school’s two main foyers. Then there will be coffee and doughnuts at 8:30, with patriotic songs and music by the students.
Afterward, veterans can go to the gym and be honored at the 9:15 liturgy at the Catholic school. The Veterans Mass will honor those in gym as well as all military past and present.
The DuBois Honor Guard will be there for the Presenting of the Colors ceremony. DuBois Police Officer Lanny Prosper will conclude with a patriotic song prior to the Retiring of the Colors in the gym.
The celebration will conclude with the “traditional raising of the flag” at the outdoor flagpole, complete with a 21-gun salute and taps.
All veterans are encouraged to attend as DCC recognizes their service. You’re asked to call 814-371-3060 if you plan on going so they know how many people to prepare for.
This is the 11th annual Veterans Day celebration at DCC.
Michael Micknis had helped organize the event for the past several years. He says the school takes the entire week to focus on veterans, even in the classrooms.
In addition to the Veterans Honor Celebration, on Thursday, Nov. 9, DCC 5th graders will go to Christ the King Manor to present a patriotic program for the residents.
