Clearfield, PA – Two police officers were injured after an Oil City man allegedly fled the scene of a traffic stop early Wednesday morning in Clearfield.

When Clearfield Borough officers asked 37-year-old Terry Boal to step out of the vehicle during a traffic stop around 1 a.m., he reportedly started his vehicle and began to pull away. The officers tried to turn the car off, which led to one officer being pulled along for several feet as the car drove away.

Police went back to their patrol vehicle and pursued Boal. He allegedly struck a curb, which damaged his tires. Two tires eventually fell off, which caused Boal’s vehicle to stop on Route 322 near Kurtz Road.

Boal was found to have an active warrant in Venango County and was allegedly driving under the influence during Wednesday morning’s chase. He faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, and recklessly endangering another person. Boal is in the Clearfield County Jail on $30,000 bail.

The two officers went to Penn Highlands Clearfield afterward, though police do not say how badly the officers were injured.
