Pennsylvania – With the winter season approaching, PennDOT is already preparing to make traveling Pennsylvania roadways a little safer by allowing drivers to track when roads were last plowed.

Although drivers might already be familiar with the 511PA website and apps, the program was originally just used to show construction and traffic conditions.

However, now PennDOT’s plow trucks have been equipped to send a signal to 511PA so that drivers can check what time state-maintained roadways were last plowed.

This system will not work with any roads that are plowed by local city or township crews, but major highways and interstates will be shown on the map with the exact time when a plow truck last came through.

Drivers can find that and many other state-owned road conditions at 511PA.com or with the 511PA app.
