DuBois, PA – Fire Prevention Week kicked off yesterday in DuBois with a block party on West Long Avenue, complete with fire truck rides, giveaways, and food. More fire drills and visits are planned for this week.

Fire chief Ben Blakley says the firefighters will keep busy throughout this week.

They plan to visit all of the schools and day cares in the area to teach about fire safety and prevention. They’ll do timed fire drills to make sure that they kids know where to go and can get out of the building in a timely and safe manner.

They’ll also be exploring some of the newly renovated areas of DuBois to find how to best respond to fires there. If your building has recently changed or been updated, please tell fire officials at 814-371-4590.
