Clearfield, PA – A patient who left Penn Highlands Clearfield was arrested after allegedly getting into a fight with police officers.

According to police, 37-year-old Steven Allen of Clearfield left the hospital early in the morning on Sept. 7 after he had been involuntary admitted to the hospital for a mental health check.

He reportedly went to a nearby active construction area, which used to be the Clearfield Middle School.

Officers had to search the entire construction site for Allen. When they found him, the man allegedly became very combative, swinging his arms and legs and biting at officers.

Police were eventually able to handcuff Allen. He was taken to the emergency room for injuries sustained during the struggle. One officer had a broken finger from deflecting one of Allen’s kicks.

Allen was taken to DuBois for further mental health treatment. He’s been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, defiant trespass and simple assault.

Allen waived his right to a preliminary hearing. His bail is set at $50,000 monetary.
