DuBois, PA – Next week, a boy from DuBois who is battling cancer will be making the trip of a lifetime to a place where he was born but doesn’t remember: Hawaii.
13-year-old Maddox Hyde has been fighting neuroblastoma since he was 6, and he says it’s his dream to visit the island and make some memories with his family.
They’ll make it to Hawaii on Tuesday. Maddox and his family plan on going scuba diving, swimming, luaus, eating Hawaiian food, and going to the Marine base where his family lived when he was a baby.
The DuBois Humanitarian Riders Club visited Maddox’s house yesterday to give him some extra cash for the trip. They even took him on a motorcycle ride and made him an honorary member of the club, complete with a patch to sew onto a biker jacket.
We’ll continue following this story as Jamie’s Dream Team, a group that raises money to help send children with medical issues on trips, presents Maddox and his family with their plane tickets and itinerary for their journey at school on Friday.
