Shanksville, PA – The 16th anniversary of United Flight 93’s crash into a Pennsylvania field during the 9/11 terror attacks will mark the beginning of the end of a $46 million effort to transform the site into a national memorial park.
Ground was broken Sunday on the final element of the Flight 93 National Memorial. It’s a 93-foot tall Tower of Voices. It features 40 tubular metal wind chimes, one each for the 33 passengers and seven crew members who died.
Vice President Mike Pence will take part in the Sept. 11 ceremony to remember the 33 passengers and seven crew members killed in the terror attack on United Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
A somber ritual that includes the tolling of bells and a reading of the victims’ names gets underway at about 9:45 a.m. Monday.
