Pennsylvania – Red Cross is looking for shelter volunteers to go to affected areas.

More than 16,000 people throughout Texas and Louisiana are staying in shelters after Hurricane Harvey. Now the Red Cross is preparing to open more shelter in preparation for Hurricane Irma.

The American Red Cross hopes to train more volunteers in our area who would be willing to deploy for 2 to 3 weeks if need.

Volunteers must be at least 18, and they will be trained for free.

“Sheltering Boot Camps” to help volunteers prepare will be held over the next 10 days, so get in contact with them quickly if you want to help.

The volunteer shelter boot camp in DuBois will be held next Thursday, Sept. 14, at their office on North Brady Street from 6 until 9 p.m.

For more information on other boot camps, call the Red Cross DuBois office at 371-2750.
