Clearfield, PA – A new company is taking over medical transport for the Disabled American Veterans of Clearfield County.

The transportation will now be handled by James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center of Altoona. It’s a free program for veterans to go to their medical appointments at both the DuBois Outpatient and Altoona VA Medical Clinics.

However, volunteers are still needed. They need people who are willing to schedule appointments or drive veterans to the clinics. If you’re interested, contact Amy Detterline, volunteer coordinator, at 814-940-7833.

Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license and clean record, as well as pass an extensive physical examination. Vehicles and training are provided.

Veterans, to schedule transportation to a medical appointment, contact the Clearfield County office at 814-765-2642, Ext. 3008.
