Pennsylvania – If you’re lucky, you’ve never actually seen what the airbag in your vehicle looks like. However, if you bought your car secondhand or have had your airbag replaced after an accident, you could be facing a hidden danger.

Christopher Basso from Car Fax says it’s important to know if your vehicle’s airbag was recycled from another car. It might not work correctly in your new vehicle, or it might have been recalled.

Your mechanic can check the serial number on your airbag to see if it shows up on a recall list or if it’s safe to use.

You can check to see if any part of your vehicle is recalled on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. However, if any part of your vehicle has been replaced from another automotive, you’ll need to check those specific parts and not just a recall for the car in general.
