Clearfield, PA – Residents in the Clearfield Area School District are questioning the school’s policy on professional photography.

For several years, the district has had an agreement that Images by Jan would provide photos for seniors, athletics, clubs and other activities for the yearbook. These photos are done for free, but the studio makes its money from photo packages that families buy for an additional cost.

Ryan Bender recently asked the Clearfield Area School Board why no other photographers are allowed to take photos on campus. He said that, even though several families have approached him and asked for him to take their photos because there are unhappy with the other company, he is unable to come to the athletic field or other school areas to take those photos.

Some school board members said that the agreement made it easier to handle school photography and made it less likely for mistakes to happen.

However, the board said that they would continue to discuss the problem with the district solicitor.
