Kersey, PA – Half a year after the collapse at a landfill that killed a DuBois man, OSHA is penalizing the company for safety violations.

The owner of the Greentree Landfill, Advanced Disposal, was given a $12,675 penalty. The report says that the company knew there were signs that the landfill was unstable that day.

The instability caused it to collapse on Feb. 8, trapping 49-year-old William Pierce under 40 feet of trash, where he died. His body was found two days later after a massive search. He had worked for the company for 18 years.
