DuBois, PA – A Penfield man faces charges for deliberately crashing his ATV.

21-year-old Austin Smith was charged with recklessly endangering another person and other traffic summaries for the crash that happened in Huston Township on May 27.

A woman who was riding on the ATV with Smith says she was on the phone with her friend when he crashed. She and Smith were reportedly having an argument, and the woman had called someone else to pick her up.

Smith allegedly told her to hang up the phone or he would crash the ATV. When the woman refused to hang up, Smith ran the ATV off of the roadway.

Both Smith and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle and sustained injuries.

Smith’s preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 1.
