Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania-based coal company, Xcoal Energy, has won a contract to supply coal to Ukraine’s state-owned power company in preparation for that country’s winter heating needs.

Officials say this deal would bolster relations with a key U.S. ally that’s often threatened by Russia.

The first shipment will go out next month. They’ve agreed to sell 700,000 tons of steam coal to Ukraine in the next few months.
