Strattanville, PA – One person has died after a tractor-trailer crash late Sunday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Clarion County.
It was around 4 p.m. yesterday when a tractor-trailer caught fire after a multi-vehicle accident near mile marker 66 on I-80 eastbound.
The truck was fully engulfed with flames, and one person was trapped inside.
The Clarion County Coroner’s office has confirmed that the person who was trapped inside the truck died. However, they were not able to identify the victim due to severe burns.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning. It’s still unclear where the trucking operation is based out of and where the driver might be from.
Interstate 80 had major backups throughout Sunday evening, and heavy traffic was also reported on nearby roads due to vehicles being rerouted.
Portions of eastbound I-80 in Clarion and Jefferson County remained closed for part of the night.
Investigators are conducting an accident reconstruction to find more details of how the crash happened.
