Stump Creek, PA – It’s everyone’s dream to win a large amount of money, but unfortunately it’s not always true. If you get a phone call claiming that you’ve won the Publisher’s Clearing House, think twice.
A Stump Creek man received a phone call on July 5 from someone claiming to be from the Publisher’s Clearing House. They convinced him to wire $210 under the pretense that they needed some initial money to pay for a team to come to Stump Creek and bring him the winning check.
This was a scam. If you receive a similar phone call, do not send any money and tell police immediately.
If you do not know someone personally and they ask you to send them money, that’s a sign of a scam.
If something seems wrong, you can always check in with your local police or bank to see if they believe something is a scam and ask for their advice.
