Houtzdale, PA – One person is dead and five others are injured after a crash last night in Clearfield County. It happened along Spring Street in Houtzdale around 6 p.m. yesterday, north of Sterling Avenue.

31-year-old Gregory Millinder Jr. of Madera lost control of his Jeep Wrangler, entering the oncoming lane, and struck the rear of a Chevy Corvette driven by 68-year-old Daniel Gillette of Moshannon. Millinder’s Jeep continued in the wrong lane after the initial impact, finally striking a classic 1957 Chevy Bel Air head on.

The Chevy Bel Air was driven by 71-year-old Gary Stover of Loganton, PA. Stover was air lifted to Altoona Hospital. His passenger, 70-year-old Mary Caprio of Lock Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Millinder and his passenger, an unnamed 8-year-old girl, both had minor injuries.

Gillette and his passenger, 67-year-old Susan Gillette of Moshannon, were transported to Altoona Hospital.

State Route 53 was closed for several hours on Sunday evening as officers investigated. That investigation is ongoing. Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact State Police in Clearfield.
