Commodore, PA – In nearby Indiana County, a man was killed after being shot by his neighbor. Police were called out to a home in Commodore just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

They found a man and woman giving first aid to 23-year-old Derrick Davis of Commodore, who had been shot in the upper chest. Davis later died before EMS could arrive.

During the initial investigation, police discovered that the shooter was Davis’ neighbor, 27-year-old James Lantz, also of Commodore. Lantz had fled the scene on foot around 1 Saturday morning and was found more than 9 hours later, around 10:40 Saturday morning when he returned to his home. He was taken into custody without incident.

Although investigators say it’s too early to give an exact motive for the killing, they believe it was related to a domestic dispute. They say that the shooting was not related to drugs, but there may have been alcohol involved. Lantz is facing charges of criminal homicide and is now in Indiana County Jail.
