DuBois, PA – A DuBois woman waived her right to a preliminary hearing for a case in which she’s accused of burglary at a store where she used to work.

35-year-old Cortney Mortimer allegedly entered Choice Cigarette Outlet in DuBois on April 24 and took money and other items. She’s being charged with burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking.

Security footage showed a person entering the store after midnight. The person, who was later identified as Mortimer by a manager, took cartons of cigarettes, lottery tickets, tobacco, milk and candy. The suspect also stole $700 from the safe.

The person knew the combination to the safe and had entered the building with a key. The burglar also knew the security code to turn off the alarm. Even though she had hid her face from the security cameras, the manager identified the thief as Mortimer, who had previously worked at the store.

Mortimer’s bail has been lowered from $50,000 monetary to $50,000 unsecured. There’s no word when her next court date will be.
